I have a love/hate relationship with my refrigerator. I love when it cools and hate when it crashes… which it does, more frequently for me than the average person. I’ve been through three fridges in the 7 years I’ve lived here. That has to be some sort of record. My second fridge passed on a…

About Kelly
I'm Kelly and I'm a word addict. My favorite word is twitterpated, followed closely by kerfuffle. I feel healthiest when processing life on paper- it's how I think best. Here's some more pertinent facts: I love to MacGyver my way through life and nothing is ever broken that I can't fix. The color orange reminds me of my dad and makes me feel warm and loved. The phrase, "Was it refrigerated?" can still bring me close to incontinence as I recall a hilarious late night conversation with my mom over fifteen years ago. My brother- who is half my age- helped make me the person I am today. I live my life in movie quotes and love when others can play along. I am a seminary graduate and love to write about scripture. In my spare time, I work full time as an Occupational Therapist helping people relearn how to care for themselves after neurological impairments. I am introverted and get easily overstimulated, but most people would instantly peg me for an extrovert. I was once introduced by a friend as, "This is Kelly. She's way rad!" The person misheard and thought my name was Kelly Wayrad. It's a sentiment I strive to live up to daily! I'm glad you're here. Thanks for reading my real thoughts on virtual paper!

Gifts of Grace
Number of bag, boxes and containers full of flair for craft fair on Saturday: two dozen. Number of items still wishing to make: hundreds! (but realistically 10) Number of trips to Hobby Lobby: 4 (this week alone!) I’m busy preparing for my craft fair, Gifts of Grace, this Saturday! I love creating things. I get…
Celebrating Uniquely
This is Tanner. Perhaps that’s not his best side. Tanner is my friend, almost like my little brother. We have a funny connection to be able to carry on a conversation exclusively in movie quotes – one of my favorite past times. We love lots of the same nerdy things including the TV show Community.…
May the Fourth
Apparently, it’s a holiday today. A new one. Which when I wish you a happy day it will sound like I have a lisp. “May the fourth be with you!” (And I always want to follow it up with, “And also with you!”) Whether you are celebrating coincidences in sounds today, I wish you a…
Celebrating Selfies
This is the year of the selfie for me. I usually roll my eyes when I see a cluster of people posing awkwardly, cell phone outstretched to take their own picture. But this year I’ve whole-heartedly embraced it. Let me amend that, I’ve embraced it — sans “duck face.” I’ve been challenged by some friends…
Celebrating Self Image
Nothing has the potential to derail my self image more than a four year old constructing my Mii avatar. Am I the only one who has dealt with this? My sweet friend, Valor, wanted to play many Wii games with me during our visit and he would not allow me to start until he had…
Celebrating Impostors
My legs are extended. My lumbar back is supported. My needs are well-tended to. And I’m on an airplane. My flight which was supposed to depart last evening was cancelled due to inclement weather. So I got bumped. As an apology and added perk, I got upgraded to first class for the last leg home.…
Celebrating Airport Friendships
I’m awed by how quickly I can connect with someone when we have a shared goal. And it doesn’t even have to be a large goal, a lasting goal, or a life goal. I bonded with a friend over a flight destination. We were both booked on the ill-fated flight to Orlando which was cancelled…
Celebrating Delays
I have a decision to make. I can be angry or grateful. It’s up to me. I’m currently sitting in the airport after a flight cancellation, delay, and re-routing. I will not be to my final destination for eight hours with a layover in between. And I’m okay with that. I am choosing to view…
