Wishing you a very Merry Christmas whether you are celebrating in winter or summer this year. The King has come.

About Kelly
I'm Kelly and I'm a word addict. My favorite word is twitterpated, followed closely by kerfuffle. I feel healthiest when processing life on paper- it's how I think best. Here's some more pertinent facts: I love to MacGyver my way through life and nothing is ever broken that I can't fix. The color orange reminds me of my dad and makes me feel warm and loved. The phrase, "Was it refrigerated?" can still bring me close to incontinence as I recall a hilarious late night conversation with my mom over fifteen years ago. My brother- who is half my age- helped make me the person I am today. I live my life in movie quotes and love when others can play along. I am a seminary graduate and love to write about scripture. In my spare time, I work full time as an Occupational Therapist helping people relearn how to care for themselves after neurological impairments. I am introverted and get easily overstimulated, but most people would instantly peg me for an extrovert. I was once introduced by a friend as, "This is Kelly. She's way rad!" The person misheard and thought my name was Kelly Wayrad. It's a sentiment I strive to live up to daily! I'm glad you're here. Thanks for reading my real thoughts on virtual paper!
My ACTUAL Christmas Update :)
Last year I bemoaned the fact that my life is in many ways unchanging. I worked at the same job, lived in the same house, and had my well-worn routines in life. No longer. I have coined 2013 as “the year of adulthood” for me. I find myself repeatedly asking, “What would an adult do?”…
Christmas Update
Maybe next year I’ll be cool enough to pull off something like this…
My Marathon Progress
I ran a third of a marathon. Just over eight miles! And it felt good. Even in those pants! It was the first time I felt like I was in a rhythm, a groove. I plodded along, forging steadily onward for EIGHT MILES! I ran with a friend and the peer pressure kept me…
Scroogery
I am a Scrooge. A Grinch. A Holiday Humbug. I never understood when people would talk about the stress of Christmas as a youngster. To me, Christmas was a magical time of joy and excitement and sleepless anticipation. Of course, as a kid all I had to do was sign my name to the family…
Santa!
That was the text I just sent. To my 34 year old roommate. Every year in my town, Santa cruises through neighborhoods mounted atop a bedazzled firetruck. He waves at children who stream out of their houses, shouts “Ho! Ho! Ho!” and throws candy. It’s quite the scene. Here was my experience. I texted my…
One Cheeky Elf
This is my Elf on the Shelf, Cheeky. He’s come out of his eleven month hibernation to play again. So far he’s been pretty tame. Spending time with my roommates and of course, Will Ferrell. Welcome to the Christmas season, Cheeky. Thank you for being yourself and bringing a little glee to a time that…
My Words are Like Pickles
I love Chick fil A. In fact, I’m fairly certain that it will be on the menu in Heaven. It is certainly a treat for me to stop and pick up a juicy, perfectly breaded, chicken sandwich with polynesian sauce. (Who else is drooling now?) But there’s one thing I don’t like about Chick fil…
The Running Dream
Car accident. Amputation. Stump. Prosthetist. Cerebral Palsy. Disability. Perseverance. Success. That’s a ten word summary of the best book I’ve read in the recent past. The Running Dream chronicles the story of Jessica, a bright young sprinter who loses her right leg below the knee after a catastrophic car accident. Jessica reluctantly enters the world…
Vacuums and Maturity
Basically, I got a blank check this week. I earned a special gift at work and was rewarded with a certain number of points to spend in an online catalog of prizes. I flipped through the virtual pages and gazed longingly at many fabulous prizes. IPods, luggage, cameras, Keurigs, iPads, and foot massagers ranked high…
